Watch a Cloud

WATCH A CLOUD

The chorus of this song is similar to “WITHOUT YOU” by Lonestar.  Someone sings “Watch a Cloud” and holds it for eight beats while someone else sings the cloud descriptors in a somewhat rapid rhythm.  Or like today, you just read it like a poem.

Computers and cell phones of this technology world

Let us instantly talk night or day.

We’ve invested the time in creating the tools

But we’ve forgotten how to have something to say.

Emails get forwarded without even a tag

Just click and pass on to your list

Without even tryin’ our right brains are dyin’

It’s time to fuel the free thought that we’ve missed

WATCH A CLOUD

A pot belly stove, a frog and a tree

A float with a homecoming queen

WATCH A CLOUD

A dragonfly a butterfly and a snake with feet

The biggest fish I’ve ever seen

A summer’s day with a gentle breeze

And dozens of clouds gliding bye

I silently stare as a shape morphs before me

A recognizable form hits my eye.

It’s not perfect of course, it might be a stretch

But the image is definitely true

The test of your find is in getting a friend

To admit that he sees it too

WATCH A CLOUD

The Caspian Sea, a wheel and a bell

A cow taking care of her calf

WATCH A CLOUD

A crocodile, two buffalos and an old man’s face

And an amoeba splitting in half

Sometimes the clouds are stretched long and thin

Like the sweet breath of God has passed through them

It’s funny that’s when I see Angels and harps

And other wispy symbols of heaven

I never see the clouds fold on to themselves

Building thunderheads that tower in the sky

These mountains of energy look so benign

Like you could climb them if you were to try

WATCH A CLOUD

A satellite dish, a horn and a leaf

A train with smoke coming from its stack

WATCH A CLOUD

A turtle a dog and a four winged bird

A cowboy with arrows in his back

At night the sky takes on a new look

The clouds dance before the moon’s light

As it rolls past the glow the same cloud changes color

Black to grey then ivory white

The rays stream through the thin and bounce off the edges

Of larger clouds floating nearby

Sometimes layers of clouds team up to smother the bulb

And bring darkness back to the sky.

WATCH A CLOUD

A big unicorn, a car and a truck

A table with a hot apple pie

WATCH A CLOUD

Just over the wave porpoises jump cactuses

Or am I to say cacti.

WATCH A CLOUD

I Saw South America turn into Australia

With an extra chunk I didn’t know

WATCH A CLOUD

There was a key, a dog and a three-legged camel

A birthday present with a great big bow

WATCH A CLOUD

WATCH A CLOUD
